Scarcity or Abundant Mindset?
We always hear about having an abundant mindset around money. But the same can be applied to time. You know you have a scarcity mindset when you have regular thoughts like:
“I don’t have enough time.”
“Time is not on my side.”
“There is never enough time in the day. “
“I’m racing against the clock.”
“There’s too much to do and so little time to do it.”
Now, you might say, “Well, that is just true!”
Ok. What if it is true? But that is not the question really. The question I, “Are those thoughts beneficial?” When you have a scarcity mindset, your body is fueled with urgency, impatience, stress, overwhelm, panic, and anxiousness. In turn, you aren’t able to focus. You jump from task to task. You are late for your appointments. You can’t remember what you have going on for the day. You spend a lot of time going back and correcting or doing things over. You procrastinate things on your to-do list and thereby create more work for yourself in the future. You are distracted easily. Your work is hurried and sloppy. You are most likely on edge and aren’t the best version of yourself. You can’t sleep well. You dread the next day.
The result? You don’t spend your time in the most efficient way, and the experience of the the time you are given is a pretty negative one.
However, when you are living with an abundant mindset, you regularly have these thoughts:
“Time is working FOR me, not AGAINST me.”
“Time is a gift. I get to spend it the way I want. “
“There is always enough time to do what I need to do today. “
“There is always more time tomorrow.”
“I always have enough time for the things that are important to me. “
“I have more than enough time.”
When this is your narrative, then you feel at peace, stress-free, capable, relaxed, present, and in
control.
And when you are feeling this way, you will be more focused, more present in the moment, and more productive. You will make better decisions about how you WANT to spend your time. You will spend your time purposefully. You will be more organized. On time for your appointments.
Less scattered and frantic. You will be more patient with yourself and with others. You sleep better. Wake up happy to start the day.
The result? You enjoy the experience of your life and your time, and you use it in a much wiser way.
What kind of mindset do you have? What is one thing that you can do this week to live in an abundant mindset?
